Happy Christmas!

Hi everyone, well the day is here! Happy Christmas. I hope Santa has paid you a visit. He has dropped by here but the children and grandchildren will be coming tomorrow so we usually open gifts then. Today, we are off to my mums to take her out to lunch and will get back later on to just sit and relax! Tomorrow is my big day - I am cooking a lamb biryani for lunch. My kids love that!

Here is the card I made for my husband. I love the picture of the little polar bear cub.

The room was a little dark for the camera. It's actually bright white glitter card - very frosty and lovely!

Have the greatest day everyone.

Time to do the Christmas shop!

It's stupid o'clock but I am going out to get to Sainsburys when the doors open at 6.00. I know some people love the hustle and bustle but I'm not one of them! I love to stroll around a near empty shop with the shelves stacked with goodies and not have to stand in a half hour queue to part with my pennies so off I go! I just wanted to wish all my crafty friends a very very Happy Christmas. Thank you for sharing your most wonderful creations, I have gained such knowledge by reading your blogs and find them so inspirational. Here are a few cards I made recently, I want to post the cute card I made for my other half but its too dark to,take a photo - ill do it later! Anyway, here are a couple of others......

This one is for my granddaughter.....

This is for my grandson.....

This for my musical son and his partner.......

And finally, this one is for my daughter and son in law.....

Merry Christmas all and a very big welcome to any of you who pop by for the first time with a new iPad or suchlike from Santa!!

Finished at last!

I have finally made the very last Christmas card for 2012 - what a relief although I must say, I have enjoyed making my cards more this year than at any time before. This is mainly down to the fact that I joined a craft class earlier this year and I love learning new techniques and getting inspiration. It's great fun and has breathed new life into my craft.

The card I am showing today is the one I made for my elderly mum. I know she will love it - she does always appreciate my cards. She's had a bit of a difficult couple of years and none of us has realised how hard it's been for her. Anyway, I'll be taking it across to her next week. It's a mixture of Spellbinders and Memory Box dies, pink pearl card and white glitter card. Hope you like it too!

Post another one tomorrow :) Time for my bed!!

And now..... Back to craft!

For my grand-daughters birthday, I have bought her a Merida costume (from the Disney film Brave) and so I decided to make a card to match

My pet name for her is Looby Lou and she calls me Dongar - always has done since she first started to talk.

Hope you like it :)

I also made her a paper 'birthday cake' with cutting files from SVGCuts.com. I had great fun making it and you get to use up all your little bits and bobs like buttons, ribbons etc.

Inside the top, box, I am going to put a cupcake - home made if I get the chance and in the lower two tiers maybe small toys, and sweeties. I am taking it to the local florist to get them to gift wrap it for me. It stands around two feet tall. It's a nice keepsake. Hope you agree

See you soon

My Christmas starts here!

I know it's early still - but I must admit to feeling a bit Christmassy now. Lola, my granddaughter was here for a week. She is 4 years old on 30th November and I had booked a birthday treat to the theatre to see Angela Ballerina which I mentioned in my previous post. It was so lovely and Lola was suitably enthralled. The next day we went to see Santa at West Midlands Safari Park. She absolutely loved it and there was a sleigh ride to the North Pole where the big man himself was waiting to greet us. I'm telling you, he was the real deal - not some skinny student which we came across last year somewhere else. This guy was round and fat with a jolly laugh - real HoHoHo stuff! Anyway, here are some photos and then we will get back to craft!

Such a lovely day!

......and the rain still falls!

Well it's been so dull and miserable but we have still been able to have some fun. It is Lola's 4th birthday next Friday and ages ago, I had booked two tickets to take her to see Angelina Ballerina at my local theatre. The day came today and it was a big surprise for her. She was enthralled by the dancing and singing and clapped along. She loved it and I was moved to proud tears!

And then back home to......more rain!

I am so looking forward to doing some craft but by the time she goes to bed I am too tired! Still, it's been a lovely day. Tomorrow we are seeng the big man himself.... SANTA!,

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Wind and rain, coughs and colds!

It has been a gusty day today with a lot of rain thrown into the mix. My little granddaughter who arrived here to stay for a week bringing a cough with her has quite a nasty cold. She hasn't got the hang of blowing her nose just yet and insists on sniffing her way through the day!

Anyway, when we had a dry hour we managed to wrap,up warm and get out of doors for a good walk with her dolly in the pushchair so I think that blew some cobwebs away. Then we made some gingerbread men which were not quite Masterchef standard but munchable all the same.

All in all its been a lovely day but I do miss my craft. I normally go to craft class on a Thursday afternoon but wasn't able to get there this week. Not because of Lola really but because hubby took the big car to work because of the expected rain leaving me with the sports car which I wouldn't take her out in.

I could craft at night once she is tucked up in bed but my oh my.... I am exhausted!!!

Off to bed pretty soon so night everyone. See you tomorrow!

My little granddaughter, Lola is staying with me this week so not much hope of making any cards. However, she loves to be in the craft room with me. She is 3 years old - almost 4 and we have great fun together. Today we made a paper gingerbread man each. Here she is proudly holding her creation (and mine). :)

And here she is busy with her colouring pens......

I have made a paper crafted 3-tier 'birthday cake' for her birthday but I have had to delete the photos of it while she is staying with me because she loves to flip through the photos on my iPad. I can re-install them when she goes home next week and then I will post the pictures. It's lovely!

See you tomorrow :)

Back in the habit? No promises!

Well, I have got well and truly out of the habit of posting. Not sure why because I think it's great to keep a nice record of daly crafting. So my intention is to try to shake off old bad habits and get back to regular posts - I will try but don't hold your breath!,
To get me going, here is a card I made fairly recently for a long-time friend of mine. I have used a memory box die and also spellbinders. The butterfly is from my crafty stash.

Well that was easy! Perhaps I'll blog again tomorrow!
Happy crafting

Thanks Shirley!

It's been a while since I posted but today, I wanted to look back through my posts to find a card I had made some time ago so that I could make another one and I saw that people had left me some lovely comments, one of which was from Shirley from Shirley's Cards.  She has kindly given me an award....

Now this means a lot to me because I love what I do but unfortunately, I do not have a lot of time to do it and therefore, my intense crafting moments can be a bit sporadic.  I wish I could be in my craft room far more than I am!  Anyway, thank you very much Shirley for thinking of me.

The following is a little about this award:
The idea of the award is to draw attention to blogs with less than 200 followers and  pass the award on to 5 other bloggers all in the spirit of fostering new connections.
The rules for the award are :-

1. Show your appreciation to the person who gave it to by

thanking them and linking back to their blog.
2. Post the award to your blog.
3. Give the award to 5 bloggers (with less than 200
followers) that you appreciate and follow.
4. Leave a comment to the 5 bloggers to let them know you
have chosen  them for the award.

'Liebster' in German means 'dearest', so to carry this tradition on here are the blogs that I'd like to pass the award on to :-

Janey at Janey's Cards

This award is a great idea.  Thanks to the person who started it.
Have a great day

My last card for now is for a little girl who will be 6 years old!  Very grown up!  Her aunty tells me she loves Hello Kitty.  I had been lucky enough to get a Hello Kitty kit free download some time ago from Skherdesigns.  Her site is fantastic and she comes out with some amazing designs.  I remembered the kit and decided to do something with it so I just printed out some elements, cut them out and used some glitter card and hey presto - an easel card fit for a Hello Kitty fan!!

The second card I have been working on is a little boy's card.  I decided to have Thomas the Tank as a theme as we gave William a train toy for Christmas and he apparently loves it.  This is a side-stepper card.  I used my Black Cat Cougar to cut out the words and the SVG train which came from freesvgfiles.com.
I think William will love this card!.....

Speeding through January!

Wow.... we are in the middle of the first month of 2012 already!!  It's scary :(

I have a few birthdays coming up so I thought I had better get to work.  I have kept them simple and sweet.

These are made with the Hunkydory Jewelled Elegance Cardmaking Collection - Blue Topaz together with a sheet from the matching Jewel Cascade Set.  It's a fabulous kit to work with.  I have used a couple of brads on the doors and I am going to use a small piece of wire in a matching colour to tie the doors together.  The sentiment has been printed and distressed with a chalk ink in an appropriate colour.  I must say that the card is much better in real life than in these photos.

Brooke will be 4 NOT 5!!

So I was chatting to my friend Sandie who is Brooke's mummy and it turns out that she will be 4 tomorrow and not 5 as I had thought.  She is so grown up for her age!!  Ah well, it gave me a chance to add another embellishment with her age on and to solve the posting problem, I made a quick box which actually came from the card that I cut out one of the circles for the topper so it matched up nicely!!

So here is the finished card :)

A birthday card for Brooke

It is my friends' daughters' birthday on Tuesday.  I think she will be 5 but a not sure to be honest.  I wanted to steer clear of pinks as I seem to get myself stuck in a rut.  I thought some nice spring colours would be lovely but it ended up more of a summery card with hot orange and yellow hues.  Never mind - I think it turned out nicely.  I used a Tilda stamp and cut out three layers of a scalloped circle.  I used some  small pieces of card and did some paper-weaving for the bottom right hand corner which I think looks effective.  I didn't really have room for the sentiment so I decided to float it using some acetate and let it hang down over the front which makes a change - only problem I have is how I am going to post it!!

Added sentiment to Mark's card

I decided to have a hinged sentiment.... hope you can see how I did it from the photo... I think he will love it!!

Mark's Birthday Card!

On 20th January my son will celebrate his birthday.  I never know what type of card to make but I generally go for something topical.  This year I was at a loss so I looked at his Facebook page!!  I saw that he has recently watched and enjoyed a film about robots or something so I did some research and managed to find an image as a focal point for the card.  I used print and cut on my Cougar cutting machine and made the topper.  I used simple silver mirri card as a base and embossed the card with different embossing folders.  It looks really good in real life - it doesn't look so good in a photo but here is is anyway.....

I haven't decided yet about where to put the sentiment... I may add something to the front or might just put something inside.  I'll let you know what I decide!!!!

Pecan's 2nd Birthday!

It is my grandson's 2nd birthday tomorrow.... time absolutely flies!!  I call him Pecan Pie which was thought up by my daughter as a term of endearment.  He really is a cute little boy :)  Pecan loves Thomas the Tank Engine so I thought I would base my card around that.  Hope you like his card.....
