Thursday afternoon with friends!

We had a lovely afternoon at Sunrise Crafts today.  We are a lively bunch and we were talking so much, a couple of us (well me) ended up with a different card!!

Designed by Bhanu, it's a versatile card which can be used for many occasions.  The first picture is how it should be (thanks June)!  The second picture is mine... spot the difference!!  The third picture is just showing a different angle.

I love distress inks - they are so effective.
Thanks for looking.

Now is the time for all good men........

......to come to the aid of the party!

When I was younger - a couple of zillion years ago, I did a touch typing course and there were two exercises that I had to do time and time again;

Type the following two sentences until you feel your fingers are about to drop off:-

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party

In those days, typing was quite a skill - I'm not talking electrical equipment here.... Oh no- I'm talking of the ones that had an inked ribbon where you had to bash the keys as hard as you could and use Tippex to make a miserable attempt at covering up your mistakes.  The good old days!!

Anyway, when SVGCuts released their new kit this week, I just had to download it and have a go - for old times sake!  Hope you like my version of the typewriter.  It is so cute!

Thanks for looking.   Please consider leaving a comment to let me know you were here and if you like my blog, ask a couple of friends to follow - I need more visitors!

The image is working........ it's sunny and warm (for now)!!

Following on from my post yesterday, here is a card made for a friend using the same 'Spring Bringer' image from Wee Stamps.

I am trying to improve my colouring technique.  I am pleased with her clothes but I feel her hair is way too orange and the flowers should have been brighter.  Still - overall I think I am getting better!!  Thanks for looking.

Spring Bringer.....please hurry!

He bloggers!

Well we had a taste of spring yesterday.  It was a beautiful day - warmest of the year so far - and I am claiming the credit for the weather upturn because I made a card using the lovely Spring Bringer fairy from Wee Stamps.

It's just a simple card because I am practising with my spectrum noirs.  I made a more elaborate one which I will post later.

Have a great day folks!!

If I were you

Hi bloggers,

I haven't blogged at all in the last week and the time has flown by!  It's been half-term and Looby Lou (known to others as Lola) my 5 year old granddaughter came to stay.  I absolutely love spending time with her. We have so much fun and she definitely has a leaning towards craft so quite a lot of time was spent in the craft room which was nice through all these dark, rainy days.  But, by the time bedtime for her came around, I was pretty much all done in - realising I'm not so young anymore!

Anyway, Looby Lou went home yesterday and I didn't get to the Thursdy craft class at Sunrise Crafts (details in previous blog entries) but I do know what I missed......

It's lovely isn't it?  Designed by Bhanu who has so many ideas up her sleeve.  We never know what she is going to pull out of the hat.  This card could be for by occasion too - add an appropriate sentiment and there you have it!  It's lovely Bhanu - sorry I missed it but see you next week!  Thanks for the photo June!

Oh!  Why did I title my blog 'if I were you'!  Well it's Looby Lou's new saying and it's hilarious when said completely out of context......  'You know what I would do if I were you grandma?'  'What would you do Looby Lou?' 'I would always think that pink is the best colour in the world'!!!    Kids!  Don't you just adore them?

Hot, Cool, Yours!

I am not known for my patriotism but I admit to feeling immensely proud when Jenny Jones stood on the podium to be adorned with her bronze medal.   The first ever medal won by a Brit on snow in the Winter Olympics.....EVER!!  Well done Jenny!  I was inspired to look around and see if I could find a snowboarding digistamp and I chose one from Pink Cat Studio for my card.....

I think she's cute!  I coloured her with my spectrum noir pens.  I feel I m getting a little bit better with my blending but still some way to go!

Hope you like it and thanks for looking.  Have a great day and sty safe, warm and dry.  I will be going to Coventry by train later to pick up Looby Lou (Lola), my granddaughter from school who is coming to stay until net Thursday during her half-term break.  Looking forward to lots of fun with her :-)

See you soon.

PS.....  The title of this blog post is the official slogan for the Sochi Winter Olympics!

Thursday means craft class at Sunrise!!

No, I wasn't up early to see the sunrise but this afternoon in the glorious sunshine, we did meet at Sunrise Crafts to have a chat and a cuppa and make this beautiful card......

Designed by Bhanu, we used Heartfelt Creations - Msjestic Blooms Die with matching stamp for the flowers and Crafters Companion perfect Paisley embossing folder.  I love the colours and the finished card looks classy and clean.  A lovely afternoon!!

If you would like to find out more about the classes or make an order, phone Sunrise Crafts on 01902 897096 or find them online at www.sunrisecrafts.co.uk and spend some time looking at the goodies!  Delivery is quick and efficient.

Thanks for looking

A welcome caller.....

I had a lovely surprise yesterday when I answered an international telephone call and the voice on the other end introduced himself as Leo from SVGCuts!!!  He had phoned for a chat and to ask me about how I find the projects, what machine I use and to let me know I had been selected to,receive a gift card to use in the SVGCuts shop!!  How's that to brighten up a dreary wet Wednesday afternoon??  We talked about all sorts - including Downton Abbey which is one of Mary's favorite shows and the cause of the terrible weather the planet is suffering at the moment.  Leo is such a lovely guy with heaps of charisma and if I was a fan before, I am now a mega-fan!!

Thought I would share with you a favorite project I made last year although to be honest, it's difficult to single any one out as they are all awesome.  This one though is such a pretty little cottage and, whilst I love to share my work with other people, I simply couldn't give this one away!!

The roof lifts off so you can put sweeties inside!

Thanks for looking.  Hope, you like it.  Stay safe and warm today.

Strumming along

Hi everyone,

Well the weather does not seem to be improving at all.  We had heavy rain  yesterday which suddenly and unexpectedly turned into heavy snow which, despite the very wet ground, settled and gave us a pretty white back garden.  It was short-lived though - in the afternoon the sun came out and the snow disappeared as quickly as it arrived!  I really feel for the thousands of people who are flooded out of their own homes.  The rain has been relentless and there is so much more to come.

Here is a little gift I made for my son who moved into his new flat recently.  It doubles as a little gift box!  The cutting file is from svgcuts.com and the set is called 'Vintage Valentines'.  As always there is a very helpful assembly video to help you but it alltogether.

Hope you  like it and thanks for looking!  Have a great day and stay warm :)

The Nursery

Good evening.  Hope you are having a good Saturday.  I had a real treat today.  My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter visited so that was lovely.

Here is a little card with a scene on.  I saw the card shape on C&C the other day.

The scene on that one was a little girl watering her garden.  It was a Spellbinders show.  Anyway, I thought I would try to recreate the format and put a different scene in.  The digistamp is Bell Horses Li'l Cowboy by Elisabeth Bell.  He is so cute!  The papers are from a freebie inluded with Quick Cards ages ago.  It's a paper stack called Let's Fly Away.  I knew I would find a use for it sometime!  The lettering 'TOYS', balloon and boat are cutting files from Scrappydew.com and called Playroom Toys.

Hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Pretty in pink

Hi there,

I love pretty pink cards and really enjoyed creating this one......

The pastel pink and green combination contours up thoughts of spring for me which is lovely during these dull, rainy, windy days. It's a promise of brighter days ahead!  The digistamp is 'Ruby' by Sylvia Zet and can be purchased from Wee Stamps.  She's gorgeous don't you think?

The flowers and papers are from my stash and stamp coloured in with my spectrum noir pens.

Thanks for looking.

An afternoon at Sunrise Crafts

It's cold, dreary and damp out there but Thursday afternoons are always brighter because it's when I go to craft class.  Sunrise Crafts is a little shop in Wombourne Wolverhampton and is an absolute treasure trove!

I first went there about three years ago and the resident craft artist there, Bhanu was so helpful and advised me on a craft technique that I hadn't tried before.  I saw a room at the back of the shop full of people having fun and there was a lot of chatter.   The cards on display were beautiful and so, as soon as I could make the time, I started going every Thursday afternoon although Thursday isn't the only craft class - they are pretty much through the week.  Call 01902 893770 to ask for details.

They also have an online shop and although I have only ever bought instore as I am a regular visitor, I have heard that their delivery is fast and efficient.  Give them a try!!

Anyway, here is the card we made today.  As ever, it is designed by Bhanu of Sunrise Crafts!!

and here's the inside.....

Gorgeous don't you think?

Thanks for looking. :)

Boat on a box!

To follow on from my last post, here is a box with a cute boat on top.  It is again for the little boy next door for his birthday.  Not sure what I will put in it yet - I don't really want to put sweets alone in - i have to take a look around and see what I can find.  I am looking for small nautical-themed gifts which are not heavy - suggestions please!!  Anyway, here it is.....

It's really cute.  The cutting file was from SVGCuts.com; one of my favorite cutting files companies.  They do fantastic videos showing exactly how to make these up.  There are hundreds of projects and the detail is fantastic.  Here is a top view - there are even little oars to put inside the boat!!

Hope you like it :)

Seascape

This is a card for the little boy who lives next door.

It is made from a cutting file from Mygrafico.com called All at Sea.  I used the print and cut technique to get his name and age on the sails.   It was a lovely card to make and shows lovely depth and dimension.  Hope you like it :-)

Pop up cards

Here are two cards I made recently for my grandchildren.  I used the new Pop Up Card Studio from the makers of Make The Cut.  It's so easy to us and great fun to play with.

Excuse the photos - I needed the glue bottle to make the card stay open!!

Hope you like them.  Have a great day.

Heidi

I adore this image by Sylvia Zet.  Her name is Heidi and she is available over at Wee Stamps.  She is a delight to colour.  I used my Spectrum Noir pens.  The large blue rose is made from the same card as the base so the colour ties in well.  Thanks for looking.  Have a great Tuesday!

Too late for Happy New Year!!

Yet again I have neglected my blog!  I really don't know why because I love sharing my projects and spend at least half an hour pretty much every morning with my coffee reading through the blogs I follow.  Anyway, who knows, maybe I will blog more often from now on!!

This is the birthday card i made for my granddaughter last November.  She was 5 going on 30!

This is a beautiful popup.
The cutting file was designed by Mary P and can be bought from Thyme Machines to be used on an electronic cutting machine.

Thanks for looking :)  I WILL be back tomorrow with another project.
